Michael Flaherty can be found at the Brandon Gallery where a large selection of his work is on show, year round. The paintings, in oils, are a response to the rugged landscape at the foot of Mount Brandon, where he was born and to where he returned in 1989. The paint is applied in a fluid manner, often with a thick impasto, the colour is heightened, suggesting an intense, excited attempt to convey the constantly shifting moods of this dramatic and everchanging landscape.
